Lebanon Theatre Company, Inc. Proudly Presents

Sep 5, 2017

Lebanon Theatre Company is pleased to kick off its 2017-18 season with the musical theatre classic Guys and Dolls. Based on characters from Damon Runyon's short stories in the mid twentieth century and set to a score by the legend Frank Loesser, Guys and Dolls is a classic musical theatre romantic comedy.

As gambler Nathan Detroit (Adam Jones) celebrates his fourteenth anniversary of being engaged to showgirl Miss Adelaide (Carrie Johnson), he is desperate for a thousand bucks to hold New York's longest floating crap game. He bets Sky Masterson (Nick Kneer) that he can't get a doll to go to Havana with him for dinner. The catch is the doll is Sgt. Sarah Brown (Abby Smith) of the Save-A-Soul Mission with her ever-present grandmother (Gina Davidson). With Lt. Brannigan (Bob McLain) breathing down Nathan's neck and notorious gamblers Harry the Horse and Big Jule (Jacob Lovelace and Wayne Dunn) as high rollers, the stakes couldn't be any higher. Nathan's sidekicks Nicely-Nicely Johnson (Brent Peebles) and Benny Southstreet (Kevin Wall) are always on the lookout, keeping Nathan's game going. The rollicking comedy takes us through Broadway, Cuba, and the sewers of New york. Eventually, everyone ends up right where they belong.

The score for Guys and Dolls includes Broadway classics such as "Luck Be a Lady," "Bushel and a Peck," "I'll Know," and "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat."

Producer Dawn Stone and Director Cherie Cooper-Darragh are passionate about presenting this classic to Lebanon audiences. "Guys and Dolls is often performed in high schools, and this is a rare opportunity to experience the musical with adults in the iconic roles," says Cooper. Cole Haugh is a choreographer, Gina L. Beck is music director, and Sara Davis is accompanist.

The cast includes actors from Lebanon and across Warren County as well as Greater Dayton and Cincinnati, including Abbie Miller, Melissa Kneer, and Rylee Riggs as showgirls; Kaci Lovejoy, Becca Shelly, and Gwendolyn Gay as missionaries; and Kurt Percy, Jim Fry, and Ted Hennis as gamblers.

Guys and Dolls runs at the Mechanic Street Playhouse located at 10 S. Mechanic Street in Lebanon, Ohio. Show times are Friday and Saturday, September 22, 23, 29, and 30 at 8:00 pm, and Sunday September 24 and October 1 at 2:00 pm.
