Class 101 - Dayton Location Wins Second National Award

SPRINGBORO - Class 101, a national network of college planners, recognized the Class 101 Dayton OH South location and owners Karen and Tony DeRosa with the “Growth Award” at the company’s national convention. The DeRosas opened the first Class 101 in the Miami Valley in August 2018, and it quickly became one of the top performing locations in the nation.

This award recognizes courage in facing business challenges as well as talent and execution in serving Class 101 students and families. “We are so proud to recognize Class 101 Dayton with the Franchise Growth Award. The award recognizes owners, Karen and Tony DeRosa, for the franchise showing the most year to year growth, activity, and forward momentum,” said Tom Pabin, Class 101 Founder and CEO. “Karen and Tony’s remarkable commitment to helping students get into --and afford--college embodies Class 101’s mission to empower students, serve families, and inspire greatness.”

With the Class of 2020, Class 101 Dayton’s students achieved a 92.5% acceptance rate to schools, and earned more than $7.4 million in merit scholarship offers. Their students have been accepted to schools including University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Notre Dame, University of Michigan, Case Western Reserve University, Washington University-St. Louis, Boston University, Boston College, The Ohio State University, Miami University, Indiana University, University of Dayton, University of Cincinnati and many more. Nationwide, the average Class 101 student earns more than $200,000 in scholarships. Locally, more than one-third of Class 101 Dayton seniors also achieved at least one outside local, state, or national scholarship in 2020.

“We are the first Class 101 to receive two consecutive, different national awards from Class 101. We are extremely grateful to our students and families, and we know how lucky we are to get to be a part of each student’s journey,” said Karen Lane DeRosa.

Class 101 makes college more affordable through personalized services, including ACT/SAT prep, student resume development, essay workshops, and college applications and scholarship assistance. Class 101 students work individually with a college planner to define their interests, build a large list of schools, and take the steps necessary to achieve their college goals.  Class 101 also hosts free college planning seminars for families, practice ACT and SAT tests for students, and free lunch and learn workshops for organizations and employers.

Class 101 Dayton OH South works with students in grades nine through 12 from more than 15 Miami Valley area high schools, including Lebanon High School. To learn more or to schedule a free one-hour consultation, visit www.Class101.com/daytonohsouth or call 937-705-5113.
