Help get kids back to Camp Joy this summer!

June 16, 2021

Dear Camp Joy Friends, Families and Supporters,

After a year of isolation, kids need camp now more than ever. The Camp Joy experience lets kids be themselves while gaining self-esteem, learning new skills, making life-changing friendships, and having fun. YOU can make a difference in a kid’s life this summer. Your support provides summer camp experiences to kids who have been confronted with some of life’s hardest challenges. Join us in creating more experiences like those shared below.

Bill Bresser, CEO, The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati

The Camp Joy experience is one of the most unique and impactful partnerships we offer at BGC. This year, as we all emerge from the COVID crisis, Camp Joy means even more to our kids. The kids served at BGC are primarily from single-parent, low-income households that were adversely affected by COVID. A return to Camp Joy this summer is not just a step toward normalcy, but one of the first instances in over a year our kids will get outside of our walls, outside of their neighborhood and begin the process of healing. We must once again have fun and get back to the business of being a kid. BGC kids will find all of this once again at Camp Joy this summer.

I love Camp Joy because I love making s’mores by the camp fire. I love the cute little skits performed by counselors. I love the block party, making friends and being in a place that knows how to take care of me and my oxygen needs. I was sad when camp was canceled because of the pandemic. I hope I get to go back this summer.

Knowing that Camp Joy will be open this summer is so exciting! Quarantining last summer was awful - it didn’t feel like summer at all without Camp Joy. The socialization, outdoor education and character-building Camp Joy offers is a life-changing experience every kid should be able to experience, regardless of their socioeconomic background. I’m registering my children today!
