Arlington Pointe is August VBP

Arlington Pointe, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in the Middletown area, was thanked this month for their partnership with the WCCC State Tested Nursing Assistant program. STNA Coordinator Lisa Harrison nominated them for the August Valued Business Partner award for their support of student success. The facility hosts adult and high school students for clinical experiences.

"Each STNA student must perform 16-18 hours of clinicals in a medical facility," Harrison said. "Arlington Pointe has been very gracious to welcome our students as they take this vital step to their certification. We know they are getting a good experience with their staff and residents."

Lisa Johnson, Director of Nursing at Arlington Pointe, said she has hired three or four WCCC students as a result of their clinical experiences. “The Warren County Career Center STNA students have been great to work with,” she said. They have been very good with our residents. We also use the WCCC STNA classes to train and certify some of our staff, and have been working with the school for about three years now.”

The STNA program at our Atrium Campus takes approximately 3 weeks to complete and is the first step into the medical field for those going into nursing or want a taste of patient care in healthcare. WCCC offers monthly classes through our Adult Education medical programs, day and evening.

Fire Science Seniors Meet Challenge

Senior Fire Science students worked on certification this month for maneuvering and driving the ambulance and fire truck. They had several challenging courses marked with cones to drive and back up the vehicles.

WCCC Featured at Ohio State Fair

WCCC exhibited at the Ohio State Fair this month with industry partners Yaskawa Motoman. Their booth featured family-friendly robotic demonstrations that highlighted the importance of STEM education and workforce development within the State of Ohio. We were proud to be a featured guest of the Ohio Department of Development.

Preschool Openings Available

Our Learning Lab Preschool is off to a great start this year!

The inclusive environment provides success with the children—typical developing, special needs children and ECE entitlement—and qualifications are based on family size and income.

Our Five-Star Ohio Step Up to Quality preschool still has a few open spots, so if you have a child aged 3-5, or know of one who would benefit from preschool, contact our Director Lauren Allen, soon, at 513-933-3937.

Spotlight on Success: Grad Reaching Goals

Adult Education Medical Assistant graduate Tia Gibbs passed her CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) certification recently. Tia is a resident of Lebanon and works at Springboro Family Practice as a Patient Care Tech/Medical Assistant. Her instructors said “Tia is one of the hardest working people we all have had the pleasure to teach, and is a great asset to the medical field.”

“What a year!” Tia said. “Stepping inside a classroom when you’re my age can be so intimidating but each of you (at WCCC Atrium Campus) made every day an exciting day to learn. Each of you played a very important role in my education at WCCC. Without you, my year may have been different. So, I want to thank each of you for everything you did to help me reach my goal this year.”
